Safeguarding and Year 2 Cohort Visit - 23rd October 2018

Date: 26th Nov 2018 @ 9:30am

Today I spent an enjoyable morning in Year 2. It was great to see how much the children had grown and developed since my last visit.

I watched a Maths lesson with Mrs Weatherby and Mrs Newbould. The class were split into groups based on ability and different activities were given to each group linked to the topic. The children were using the shark pin method to add numbers together. The children were engaged with the activities and happy and proud to show me what they had done.

The classroom was bright and colourful and displayed lots of the children’s work. There was evidence of the variety of subjects and topics that the children had already covered this term.

Thank you to Mrs Weatherby and Mrs Newbould for their ongoing hard work and to Year 2 for letting me come and visit.

I also spoke to Mrs Tomkinson about safeguarding at Excalibur. She told me about the training that the staff had received and what they would do if they were worried about a child. She also explained about the processes, policy and procedures that the school has in place. I saw lots of evidence around the school that safeguarding is important, including signing in, locked gates, posters and copies of the policy and procedure in the staff room. I believe that safeguarding is a priority for everyone here and the school has the staff, systems, policies and processes in place to keep our children safe.
