‘Nurturing Individual Excellence’

English - 10.06.20

Note: the task below is the same as yesterday. It is expected to take two English sessions (approximately 2 hours). The supporting documents can be found here.

  • You should remember that a non-chronological (or non-chron) report is a factual piece of writing on a specific topic.
  • Your task this week is to write a non-chronological report on a topic of your choice.
  • You may find the following resources helpful:
    • WAGOLL: Basketball - I have written my own example on the topic of basketball, incorporating a sub-heading on the sport's origins and Michael Jordan.
    • BBC Bitesize Daily Lesson: Writing a report - this lesson from the BBC talks you through everything you need to write your own non-chron report. Of particular use is the How to write a report video and the key features of a formal report.
    • Planning Template - I have included a blank template which you may find useful to plan the sections of your report. You may print this or use it as a guide for a plan in your red home learning books.
  • As you will choose the topic, it is difficult to provide a phrase or clause bank to support this piece of writing. However, if you would like any further support please let me know. You are welcome to respond via Seesaw or send an email into school.
  • Make sure you include a variety of sentence openers and structures to make your writing engaging.
