• Work through the Modal Verbs PowerPoint below.
• Complete questions 5a, 6a, 7a and 8a from the Modal Verbs - Fluency sheet.
• Check your answers on page 5.

Task 2: Improving Cohesion in Writing

• Watch What are cohesive devices? on YouTube.
• Rewrite the two paragraphs on the Improving Cohesion Sheet by adding some of the cohesive devices you have seen in the video.
• Remember you do not have to change every sentence - you may choose to leave some exactly as they are.
• Remember to check back through your writing to check it makes sense.
• Give it to somebody else to read and ask them if they were engaged by it.
