The documents for this piece of writing can be found here.
Task: Write the first chapter of your own story
- Your task is to write an engaging first chapter of your own story, focusing on making the reader want to read on.
- The chapter does not have to be overly long, one to one a half pages should be sufficult, although you may write more if you wish.
- To help you out, take a look at the first chapter of JK Rowling's the Ickabog. I have used this to inspire the first chapter of my own story, which you see as the WAGOLL below.
- My WAGOLL is a fantasy story, but you are welcome to write in any genre you wish.
- Use the following documents to support your writing:
- Progression of Sentences - use this document, which you have seen before, to help you to include a greater range of sentence structures.
- Planning Template - use this to help you plan your sections. As the story is your own creation, the planning template is generic, but you may still find it useful.
- Examples of Sentence Openers - these examples are taken from my WAGOLL. You may be able to adapt them to your own pieces of writing.
Note: If you prefer, you may retell my story in your own words.
