‘Nurturing Individual Excellence’

English (Wk begin 13.7.20)

Hi everyone,

I hope that you are all ok. I have some marvellous news for you.  Year 1 have earned a new Epic badge for reading 1500 books.  Wahoo!

I am so proud of you and remember it is not to late to join Epic.  You just need to use the class code that was emailed out to your adults.  Check out the badge on the Epic page.

Keep shining and remember to be kind!

Spelling

This week, we are looking at spelling week 6.  You can find the resources under 'New! Spellings (Summer 2nd)'.  I have also included a PPT for this weeks words.

Next, we are going to hear the story of the 'Fish Who Could Wish'.  You will find the story video below but listen carefully because we have some questions to answer afterwards.

To answer questions about the story

1. What was extra special about the main character?

2. Why did he wish himself small?

3. What was your favourite wish the fish made?

4. What was the one thing he never wished?

5. How would this have helped him?

Remember to answer in a sentence and follow our sentence rules.

You can use the words below to help sequence and plan the story.

  1. Once there was… (introduce the character)

  2. He lived... (describe the setting)

  3. He wished...

  4. Then...

Can you share your story map with an adult or a sibling and retell the story using it?

Spelling Check

It is time to check if you can record your list of spellings today.

Remember to write the date 17.7.20.  Ask an adult to read them out in a mixed up order.  How many can you write correctly?  Good luck!

Next, head over to 'kids classroom secrets' for some reading activities.  When you log in you should find a choice of activities waiting for you.
