‘Nurturing Individual Excellence’

Friday 5 February

Well done everyone, we have made it to the end of Week 5 of learning at home.

You have been brilliant. One more week to go.

Friday 5 February

Good morning! I will see you at 9.10 for our live maths lesson. It is problem solving today. You will be able to work on your own or with me. I will be on Teams for the whole lesson in case you have any questions. You can work independently or stay online, you choose.

Maths

Today is all about problem solving and reasoning which means explaining your answer. There are lots of questions to choose from including my favourite 'True or False'. Use the Friday 5 February Maths page in the files below.

Please upload your work to Seesaw, thank you.

English

Ask a grown up to test you on your silent letter spellings. Let me know how you did on the English Seesaw page. Today, we are going to look at our next set of spelling words because they are not easy. Our new spelling words have a soft 'c' instead of a hard 'c'. For example, cat, cow, cup all have a hard 'c'. It sounds like 'c' caterpiller. But words like centre, cinder, cylinder all have a soft 'c' that sounds like 's' smile. But why is that?

Well.......      'i'   'y'   'e'  make a softie out of 'c'.

Watch my video to find out more. Click on the cygent.  Use 'Soft C' in the files below, to guide your writing. We are writing accurate sentences today using our spelling words.

circle  race

ice space

city face

dance decide

chance cycle

century  circus

dance cylinder

December cinema

Remember to read to a grown up for 20 mins.

Ask a grown up to test you on your 10 spellings with silent letters. Is it a silent 'k' or a silent 'g'?

RE

Today we are learning about the Five Pillars of Islam which are as important to Muslims and the Ten Commandments are to Christians and Jews. They are a set of duties that Muslims carry out, so are they rules or routines? You decide. Use the 'Five Pillars of Islam' to guide your conversations in the files below.
