Monday 22nd June

Good Morning Year 4!

It's the start of a brand new week!

I will be continuing to make phone calls this week. It has been really lovely to call again and hear all the things you have been doing.

Remember, the Summer Reading Challenge is online this year. The theme this year is Silly Squad and it’s all about funny books, happiness and having a laugh! Click HERE to take you to the website. Please ask an adult first!

I hope you all have a lovely week!

Maths

Please spend no longer than 20 minutes on either Prodigy or Times Tables Rockstars. Click on the pictures below to take you to the websites.

I really enjoy putting up the leaderboards each Monday and seeing who is on there each week. I wonder who will be on the leaderboards for next week...

Please have a look at Oak National Academy's next lesson on shape and symmetry. We are up to lesson 8 which is all about comparing and classifying right angled and equilateral triangles.

English

On Friday, we were working on our drafts for the Victorian diary entry. We are imagining we are a Victorian child who is writing all about their day at school. We were using our plan, the video we watched and the WAGOLL to help us. You can find Friday's online learning page HERE

Please spend some time today to continue to draft your writing. If you think you have finished, please check punctuation, spelling and that each sentence makes sense. You may even want to write it up neatly, using your best Excalibur handwriting, in your book.

Thank you to everybody who has been sending in their diary entries on Seesaw. I have really enjoyed reading them!

PE

This week is National School Sport Week. I have uploaded lots of links and activities on the online learning page called 'National School Sport Week'. You can click HERE to take you to the page. This week, you might want to try one new activity each day to keep active.

We are going to research bridges around the world, who built them and what they look like. This project will approximately take 2-3 hour sessions where you will first research structures of bridges and then design and create your own!

On Friday, we started off with the bridges around the world powerpoint. If you haven't already, you can go back and choose a few of your favourite designs and then research those in your own book. http://www.excalibur.cheshire.sch.uk/page/friday-19th-june/75840

Think about which features of each bridge you like and how you will design your own bridge. Using any materials you have available at home, try to create your own bridge. If you have them, you may want to use lego, paper, straws, lollipop sticks, cardboard, play-doh, boxes or something else!

Please ask an adult before building your bridge.

Once you have made your structure see if you can place an object on top to see if it will hold it. Alternatively, there is a BBC Bitesize lesson on structures. Have a look to find out how to make a structure stronger.
