‘Nurturing Individual Excellence’

Monday 8th June 2020

Last week, you will have been given log in details for Seesaw.  You can use this as a tool to communicate with me about your learning.  Your day-to-day work will still be here, on our Year 5 webpage, but you can use Seesaw to upload any work/pictures/messages that are relevant to your home learning, if you wish.  If you click on the link below, you will find a video that talks you through how you can do this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=g5jG9VoROFs

Did you know that today is World Ocean Day!

As this is so relevant to our current topic, I thought I would focus our learning on this.  If you follow the link to the World Ocean Day website HERE, you will find lots of wonderful activities throughout the day.

*It all kicks off at 9 am with an animation about oceans.

* At 9:30, there's a rockpool ramble at the National Marine Aquarium.

*At 10 am, you can learn how to breathe like a dolphin.

*10:30 brings us to the Ocean Learning Zone.  Here, you can click on links relevant to your age group. (Please check with an adult first as some of the links are aimed at older children.)

*1 pm brings us to the Ocean Creative Zone.  Here, there are 13 activities that you can choose from which are appropriate for age group.  Click on any that you are interested in (checking with an adult first).

* At 4 pm, there is music about the ocean.

*The final activity of the day is at 6 pm - a series of short films about the ocean!

I've also attached a few ocean activities that you could work through if you wish. Plus, I've chosen a few ocean related books on Epic that you might like to look at.  You can read as many or as few as you wish.                                 Enjoy and have a great day x
