New Starters 2022
June 2022 - updated 19.06.2022
We have now received our finalised list and have written to let you know our induction process and any important dates for you and your child.
We know what an important step this is in your child’s (and your) life. It is our aim that we make the transition for your child into school a very happy and successful one.
You have probably already talked to your child about starting school. You can help your child to feel positive and comfortable about starting school by talking about all the enjoyable activities they will take part in and the new friends that they will make. They may already know children who are here.
It was wonderful to meet so many of you at our parents meeting this week. If you were unable to attend please contact school as soon as you can to arrange to pick up your starters pack. It contains some important forms you need to fill out and return to school as soon as possible.
What's going to happen next
You should have received a letter from us letting you know our induction arrangements for September 2022 and dates for you and your child to visit us at school in June and July. We have invited you into school for a parents welcome meeting on Wednesday 15th June at 6.15 pm. We have offered your child 2 visits to school; a shorter afternoon visit, followed by a slightly longer morning visit that includes having a school dinner. These visits will take place in small groups alongside the current reception class. Therefore, due to the numbers of children involved and to ensure we are adequately staffed we are unable to offer alternative dates. We also making plans to visit your child at their nursery or pre-school to meet them and speak to their key worker. These visits and visits to school take place in June and July. You and your child are invited to meet their whole class at a Teddy Bear's Picnic that takes place on Thursday 14th July from 12 pm until 12.45 pm.
Below you will find information about starting at our school. Please take time to look through everything as there is a lot of useful information about our school and the routines of the school day. There are two handbooks; one for you and one for your child. Please share it with them. It may be useful to share it with them a few times between now and when they start school. There are also some information leaflets and activities that you can do to help your child get ready for school. You will also find a video we made to welcome a previous reception class.
We have a really wonderful Early Years environment here at Excalibur and we can't wait for you to see it.
We strive to provide enrichment experiences for our children.
We can't wait to meet you all and welcome you to our school.
