‘Nurturing Individual Excellence’

Thursday 11th June

It's Thursday Pirates!

We hope you are having fun with our pirate themed activities this week.

  • When we are at school leaning about pirates we usually have a pirate day where we dress up as pirates. You might like to do this on Friday. (Of course you don't have to wait until Friday to dress up you could be a pirate every day!)

  • Some of you might already have a pirate costume you could wear.

  • It's easy to make a costume, you could wear shorts or trousers and a t-shirt, plain or striped is best if you have one.

  • If your grown-up has a thick belt you could wear that or you could tie a piece of ribbon or cloth around your waist. If you have a toy sword it could rest in belt.

  • You need a bit of material to tie round your head if you don't have a hat. There are some instructions for making a pirate hat from paper in the home learning pack.

  • Download the indtructions below to make a pirate out of a cardboard tube.

  • You could make a parrot too to go with your pirate.

Pirate sentences

  • Download the pirate sentences activity below (there is a copy in the home learning pack).

  • Encourage your child to talk about what they can see in each picture. There are some words at the top of the page to help.

  • After talking about the pictures help your child to come up with a simple sentence they can write about the picture.

  • Try and encourage them to remember the sentence and write it down. You can write it on the sheet if you have it or on another piece of paper.

  • One sentence will be enough for some children but other children may wish to write more.
