‘Nurturing Individual Excellence’

Thursday 30th April

Today is Thursday!

Hope you are all safe and well.

Thank you to everyone who has sent pictures or 'Wow' moments for us to see, it has been so lovely to see and hear what you have been up to.

Here are a few activites for today

Caterpillar Song

  • This is one of my favourite songs about a caterpillar, it explains the life cycle really well.

Maths: National Oak Academy: Investigating Counting in Pairs

  • Don't forget to have a look at the follow up activites too.

P4C

  • If you have older children at Excalibur they probably know what P4C is.

  • P4C means 'Philosophy for Children' and is "An enquiry based approach to open up children's learning through the exploration of ideas"  (Philosopy for Children Website).

  • What it means is an opportunity for children to develop and explore ideas and their speaking and listening skills.

  • Once we are in the Summer term in Reception we usually reduce our 'Show and Tell' slots and develop P4C in our 'talk time' sessions.

  • In Reception children are given an open ended question or statement and given the opportuntiy to discuss what they think and feel about it.

  • There are no right or wrong answers and children are encourage to be respectful of the opinions and views of others.

  • To start with answers may be very short or your child may say 'I don't know' but as they have the opportunity to do it more and more than the will become more confident.

  • This might be an activity you do together with the family, especially if you have older siblings.

  • Today's question is ...    Are cats or dogs better pets?

Question cards

  • In the home learning pack that you may have collected last week were some question cards which you can also try as and when.

  • If you didn't get a pack you can look at them below.

Pom pom race track

  • If you have the resources this looks fun to play!

Nature Wand

  • This looks good to make if you have some wool or string. The rest depends on what you can collect.

Have a great day,
