‘Nurturing Individual Excellence’

Tuesday 19th January

It's Tuesday!

Good morning everyone.

There is no live Teams meeting at 9.15 today as I have sent out invites for our RWI lessons. As usual it would help if your child could be ready with something to write on such as whiteboard and pen or paper and pen/pencil.

My good morning video for today can be found at the bottom of this page.

The sessions are at the following times:

Foxes: 9.30 - 9.45 am (Ditty for after the lesson is below)

Hedgehogs: 10.00 - 10.15 am (Ditty for after the lesson is below)

Rabbits: 10.30 - 10.45 am (Ditty for after the lesson is below)

Owls: 11.00 - 11.15 am (Ditty for after the lesson is below)

There is also a quick parents guide to the ditties below.

Today we are also going to be doing ...

Dough Disco

Today's song is ...

Little Mix - Black Magic

Work those fingers!

Maths - 'Alive-in-5!' Week 3, lesson 1

Counting songs - up to 20 and down from 20

We will be revising these songs all week.

Count up to 20

Now try this one counting backwards instead...

Count down from 20

Continuing our lessons about capacity and measuring. If you want to do more around capacity I have created a new page for additional maths activities. The activities are for those children who want a little bit more because they weren't sure about something, they can be challenged a little more or because they just want to do more.

Lesson 2 - Full and Empty

Today you are going to be filling containers with water and talking about full, empty, nearly full and nearly empty. If you can colour the water with a little paint, food colouring or squash it makes it easier to see.

'Alive-in-5!' Week 3

Try the activity below after the lesson.

Testing Eggs

You made some fantastic nests yesterday and wrote some amazing sentences about what you thought could be inside the egg.

Some of you said that the egg might have been dropped onto our school field, but it was protected it some way so that it didn't break.

Challenge: Can you protect an egg so that it doesn't break if you drop it?

That was the challenge these children had. Watch the clip. You need to stop the clip at 1m 50 seconds.

How do you drop an egg without breaking it?

Find some materials from around your home to protect your egg so that it doesn't break when you drop it.

When you are ready test your design. (You might want to put the egg into a small plastic bag first so it doesn't get too messy!)

Perhaps you could stand on a chair to drop your egg.

Did it work? Did you protect the egg?

Follow-up questions

Why do you think that happened?

What was really good about your design?

Is there anything you would change if you did this again?

Don't forget to show us what you did.

Have a lovely day,

Mrs Rogers
