‘Nurturing Individual Excellence’

Tuesday 9th June

Happy Tuesday everyone!

We hope you enjoyed the pirate activities yesterday. Our pirate theme is going to continue all week.

Pirate song - Talk Like a Pirate

  • Learn how to talk and dance like a pirate with Captain Captain, Cook and Line in this CBeebies Swashbuckle song.

Pirate Map

  • Using your paper from yesterday make a pirate treasure map. If you didn't make any you can use a normal piece of paper.

  • You can make your paper look older by scrunching it up after you have drawm your map.

  • Start by drawing the shape of your island.

You could add

  • palm trees

  • mountains

  • water such as a river or lake

  • ship wrecks, sharks and rocks in the water around the edge of your island

  • Don't forget to draw an 'x' to show where the treasure is buried

Treasure Hunt

  • Make some pirate treasure to hide.

  • You could use a small box with some pretend money inside or whatever you like.

  • Ask someone to hide it for you.

  • Now try and find the treasure.

  • The person playing the game with you can give you clues such as cold when you are far away and warm when you are near.

  • When you are getting closer they can say you are getting warmer and if you go further away you are getting colder.

  • Now swap over and you hide the treasure. Can you give clues to help someone find it?

Doubling Pirate Treasure

  • To reinforce yesterdays maths on doubling, the sheet below is about doubling pirate treasure.

  • If you don't have a printer you could do this practically by drawing the outline of a large treasure chest on paper and using 1p coins.

  • Put some coins on the lid and ask your child to double that amount by laying out coins in the inside of the chest.

Maths: Oak National Academy - Halving

  • In this lesson we will learn about what 'half' means by practising halving amounts.

CBeebies Bedtime Stories

  • Listen to the story of Captain Flinn and the Pirate Dinosaurs Missing Treasure

If you have a cardboard tube (or you could make a tube from a piece of thin card) we are going to make a telescope as part of tomorrow's activities.

Have a super day pirates!
