‘Nurturing Individual Excellence’

Wednesday 6th May 2020

              Good morning, Year 5

I hope you have had a wonderful week. Just a quick note before we start to say that Mrs Jones would love our school gates to display messages for our NHS and other key workers. Therefore, we would love you to design your own banner, to show our thanks and appreciation for their dedication.  A box will be left at the bottom of the drive (weather permitting) today, Thursday and Friday of this week where posters can be delivered.

Maths

Mental maths: Choose to play on Hit the Button or TTRS for approximately 15 minutes, particularly focussing upon an area that you know you need to practise.

LO: Application of finding the perimeter

So, this week, we have been looking at finding the perimeter of rectangles and compound shapes, plus finding the missing sides.  Today, take a look at the PowerPoint attached and then have a go at the activities provided.  Remember, the sheets get progressively harder going from 1* to 3*.  Answers are provided at the bottom.

English

You are now ready to start planning the write-up of you balanced argument.  First of all, read through my WAGOLL, paying particular attention to the words/phrases that i have highlighted to indicate connectives, modal verbs, language of debate and words to extend sentences.  Write your own plan thinking about what you are going to write about in each of the four paragraphs (introduction, arguments for, arguments against and conclusion) of the argument.
