‘Nurturing Individual Excellence’

Week beginning 30/3/20

I hope that you have all had a lovely weekend and are ready to get started with the learning that I have planned for this week.  Make sure that you keep in touch by emailing school with what you have been up to and responding to the dicussions and blogs that I am putting on the VLE or the school website. Thank you to those of you who have already contributed, it is so lovely to hear what you have all been up to.  I have added a blog where I would like you to tell me all about the sports after school clubs that you have been to in the autumn or spring term. It is called 'Sport at Excalibur'.  Click on the link and it should take you to the blog.

Keep checking the main Year 3 Online Learning page as I am adding new things for you to try out.

Science

In your home learning packs there are two science sheets that I would like you to complete.

*Pushing and Pulling Forces - Label whether each picture is a 'push' or 'pull' and whether the forces 'stops' or 'starts' the action.

*Friction - Give example an example of where fiction occurs in real life. Is it useful/not useful? High friction/low friction?

Here are some websites that might help you.

History/Geography Project

As we discussed in school, I would like you to carry out a research project all about Antarctic explorers. There are a number of different explorers who carried out expeditions to Antarctica. Here are a few-

*Robert Falcon Scott        *Ernest Shackleton             *Roald Amundsen

You can use the sheet below to create a fact file on 1 or more of these explorers. There is also some information about each explorer for you to use if you would like.

Research their expeditions including when they went and what happened. You can show what you have found out in any way that you choose. It could be a poster, a booklet, powerpoint presentation or you could write a diary of the expedition.

Art

You may have noticed that 'Spring has Sprung' over the past few days. I think it would be a great idea for you to create piece based on signs of spring. You can choose to draw, paint, collage or create a model. It is up to you. It would be lovely to see pictures of your artwork. Maybe you could email them into school or add them to the discussion I have created on the VLE.

Computing

For computing this week I would like you do some coding using PurpleMash.

Log on --> Computing --> 2Code --> Choose from      *Turtle

                                                                               *Haunted Scene

                                                                               *Guard the Castle
