‘Nurturing Individual Excellence’

Week beginning Monday 20 April

Welcome to the Summer Term

I hope you all enjoyed the Easter holidays and were able to relax with your families. I know it's not like being in school but we are going to do our best to keep our learning going.

This term our topic is 'Seaside Stories'. Take a look at our class page to find out more.

Let's have a look at last weeks leader board! April 13 to April 19.

Gold - Joel    Silver - Fenna    Bronze - Alex

Well done to these three children and everyone who played on Prodigy this last week. If you have not logged in to Prodigy please do so. Any technical difficulties please do email school. We may be able to help.

Things to do

Download the power points below to find out more details for English and maths.

English – We are going to write a letter to an imaginary friend or cousin. We will write in the present tense and try to use adventurous vocabulary choices.

Reading – Try re-reading a guided reading book. It can really help your understanding. Or, log in to Epic and read about a sea creature that you like eg seals, dolphins or turtles.

Spelling - every day. How did you get on with the CEW? If there are still words that you cannot spell practise one for a whole week to crack it.

This week we are adding ‘er’ and ‘est’ to root words. Complete the spelling practice page and learn to spell all of the words.

Maths - Finishing off our fractions work. Can you recognise fractions? Can you count in thirds? One third, two thirds, three thirds, four thirds. Easy but check out the pictures. Also we will be revising 'Length'.

PE with Joe Wicks on youtube live 9.00 - 9.30 Ask first.

Geography project March 23 to April 17 Share your learning on our ‘Four castles, capitals and countries of the UK’ blog

Science Try these three challenges and see if you can explain your answers to a grown up. You could take photographs of before and after.

Make a spoon out of paper or card. Stir some water. How long can you use it for?

What happened? Why?

Which material are spoons made out of? Why do you think this is?

Make a comb out of paper or card. Try to comb your hair.

What happened?

Which material are combs actually made out of? Why?

Could a jumper be made out of wood?

Explain your answer.

IT Have you got access to a computer? Choose a day in the Easter holidays and write a short paragraph about it. Then go back and change the font, size and colour of your text.

Wednesday 22 April is Earth Day. The theme is climate action. How are you looking after your part of planet Earth? Do you put your rubbish in the bin? Do you recycle your rubbish? Or do you re-use it?

Thursday 23 April is St. George's Day. Click on the dragon to read the story of St George.

There's a dragon colouring sheet on this link too. Remember Shoo Rayner on youtube taught us how to draw a dragon? He does other dragons. Why not have a go?
