Task: Film Review or Essay
- Linking in with Lights, Camera, Action, this week's writing task requires you to do one or both of the following:
- Write a film review
- Write a film essay on a topic of your choice
- Film Review
- Into Film have provided a fantastic resource to support the writing of film reviews. Follow the presentation entitled Film Review Writing Guide and listen to the short video by Mark Kermode, a film critic and presenter for Film4 and Channel 4.
- You may either watch a film of your choice or write about a film you have recently seen. Take a look at Film Review - WAGOLL to see my review of Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone.
- The Planning Template - Film Review document can be used to help you with the structure.
- Use the Film Terminology document to help with the vocabulary for this piece of writing.
- Use the Phrase, Clause and Sentence Bank to support you as well.
- Film Essay
- Write a film essay on any topic of your choice, such as:
- My favourite movie is...
- The worst movie I have ever seen is..
- The film that reminds me of when I was younger is...
- The movie series you should watch is...
- Why you must watch [insert film title]
- This is quite an open task, and you are welcome to write freely. I have written an example, entitled Harry Potter: the Icon of a Generation, following my rewatch of the eight films in the series.
- Note: this could be quite lengthy or just a paragraph.
