The school's Sports Premium Action Plan and Impact Statement can be downloaded below.

OFSTED States the Purpose of PE is:

A high-quality physical education curriculum inspires all pupils to succeed and excel in competitive sport and other physically-demanding activities. It should provide opportunities for pupils to become physically confident in a way which supports their health and fitness. Opportunities to compete in sport and other activities build character and help to embed values such as fairness and respect.

PE at Excalibur Primary

Excalibur Primary School has a very clear vision and philosophy, regarding school sport. We want every child to be healthy and fit and have the opportunity to participate in sport and PE so that they are physically confident. This is achieved through positive teaching and learning experiences at all levels and for all children. Every child is offered competitive PE and extra-curricular activities.

PE and sport is led by the PE coordinator and supported by all members of staff.  Activities include football, netball, hockey, rugby, basketball, swimming, dance, gymnastics, athletics, cricket, multiskills and rounders. During sports week the school offers a wide variety of sports from archery, golf and fencing to wheel chair basketball.

Excalibur Primary School has been awarded the Platinum Mark for PE , following the achievement of the gold award for five consectutive years, for participation and competition in 2017/2018. This is a great achievement which we are very proud of.

What is the Sport Premium?

The government is providing additional funding to improve provision for physical education (PE) and sport in primary schools. This funding - provided jointly by the Departments for Education, Health and Culture, Media and Sport - will be allocated to primary school head teachers to spend on improving the quality of sport and PE for all their children.

The sport funding can only be spent on sport and PE provision in schools. OFSTED will play a significant role in ensuring that schools target this funding in areas which will lead to clear outcomes in raising standards and opportunities in PE and school sport for all children throughout the primary phase.

Purpose of the Funding?

Schools must spend the additional funding on improving their provision for PE and sport, but they will have the freedom to choose how they do this.

How are we using the funding to benefit our children?

At Excalibur Primary School we have allocated the funding in a number of ways that are described in the Sports Premium Action Plan that can be downloaded below.
