Task: Write a character description

  • Your task is to write an engaging character description which could be used to introduce a character to a story. Tomorrow's task is to write a setting description.
  • The Character Description Images document below shows some images you may wish to use to help with your writing. However, you may write a description about any character of your choice.
  • Before you write, jot down phrases to describe the character. For example: flowing robes / wrinkled face / long grey beard, etc.
  • Use the following documents to help you further:
    • WAGOLL: Character Description - I have written a character description for Albus Dumbledore.
    • Sentence Structure Support - Use this document to help with constructing a variety of sentence structures with your writing. I have used the progression of sentences to put the PDF together with examples specific to the writing for today and tomorrow.
    • Progression of Sentences - you will be familiar with this document and can use it, along with the Sentence Structure Support, to help with varying your sentence structures.

Note: This week's writing includes separate tasks for today and tomorrow. Today is a character description; tomorrow is a setting description. Each task is designed to take approximately an hour. If you do finish quicker, or would like more writing to do, there is an extra writing challenge at the end of tomorrow's English session.
