Castles of the UK capitals. Over the next four weeks find out about the castles in the capital cities of the four countries of the UK. England, London. Wales, Cardiff. Scotland, Edinburgh. Northern Ireland, Belfast.
What is the country? What is the capital city? Where is the castle in the city? (clue= whereabouts in the city? Or outside the city? On top of a volcano?) What type of city is it? (clue= concentric, motte and bailey) Explain the facts that you find. Draw and print pictures of the castles. Find the castles on Google maps. Drop the yellow person in to get a 'real' look at the castle.
If you are lucky the gate to Cardiff castle will be open and you can 'walk' inside. What happens at Edinburgh castle at one o'clock? Find evidence using Google maps that Belfast castle 'used' to be in the city centre. What is kept at the Tower of London? (more than one answer)
What are you doing outside this week? Could you draw or paint a daffodil? Make a daffodil out of paper. Learn 5 alternatives for the colour yellow.
