‘Nurturing Individual Excellence’

Thursday 14th May

Hi everyone,

I think I have nearly spoken to everyone in the class!  I will try to catch the last few children this afternoon.  You all sound like you have been really busy.  Keep working hard and being well behaved for your adults.

A new learning pack will be available at the end of this week and your adult can come a collect one if they like.  Look out for the message to say that they are ready.

Have a lovely day!

Handa's Surprise- Today, we carry on with our work on Handa's Surprise. Yesterday, we recapped the story and recorded a list of animals that stole the fruit from Handa's basket.  You also made a note of which fruit they took.  You will need your list to help you record your sentences.

At the bottom of the page, I have attached a word mat so you can check your spellings.  The word mat has the animal and fruit names.  It also has some special words, called adjectives, to help describe the fruits. Try to include them in your sentences.  Notice the comma , between the two adjectives.

For example;

Handa didn't notice when the elephant took a sweet, round orange.

She didn't see the monkey steal a ripe, yellow banana.

Can you record your own version of the story?  It doesn't really matter about the sequence of the fruit or the animals that take them.  Think of an interesting story starter (there are a few ideas below but you can use your own)

One hot afternoon...

On a sunny morning in Africa...

Remember our sentence rules-

Capital letter, finger spaces, full stop, read it!

Think it, say it!

Like it, write it!

You can also have sometime on this tomorrow so try to get at least half written today.

Spellings- Today is the last chance to have a look at your spellings before the check tomorrow.  Have another look at the list below.  Can you spell the words out loud?  Can you say them in a sentence?

Read, Write Inc- Remember to watch the Read, Write Inc speed sound lesson and spelling lesson with Rosie. Some children need to do these daily whilst other children might need to just recap them ocassionally. Click the link to watch YouTube

Today we have another White Rose lesson.  Remember to watch the video and then complete the activity sheet or write out your answers on paper if you have no printer.  You also need to write the date 14.5.20.  Good luck!

A reminder that tomorrow is the 'Butterfly Pizza' activity so you need the ingredients if you want to take part.

Butterfly Pizzas (KS1)
