Good Morning Year 5.

I hope you and your families are keeping well.  I've seen on Seesaw that some of you have uploaded your Snowman stories.  They are all fabulous and I've really enjoyed reading them.  Do continue to upload any work that you have completed.  It really is lovely to see.

EMA (15 minutes) - Follow the link to My Mini Maths, week 4 (Division using formal written methods).  Click on MON for the task or FRI if you would like to work with some more challenging numbers.  If you would like to watch the online tutorial, click the YouTube link.  Scroll down for the answers.

  • Spend 10 - 15 minutes on Hit the Button.  You could choose Times Tables, x8 to simply practise your 8x tables or you could choose Division Facts - Hit the Answer or Hit the Question as a challenge. https://www.topmarks.co.uk/maths-games/hit-the-button

LO: Dividing by 10, 100 and 1000

Look through the PowerPoint - Divide by 10, 100 and 1000 or click on the video link for an online tutorial.

After, work through the worksheet then if you're up for a challenge, try the reason and problem solving questions (answers are hidden under the blue boxes)  and the maths word problems.  Aim to spend around 40 minutes on the activities.

English

Spellings: Practise handwriting using the ‘Cursive Handwriting’ sheet.

Today, aim to complete your writing of the Snowman scene.  Remember to use your checklist to ensure you've included all the necessary features.  Also, edit wisely.  Check for grammar, punctuation and spellings.  Below are some useful links that you might like to watch to remind you about writing in first, second or third person and the difference between coordinating and subordinating conjunctions.
