‘Nurturing Individual Excellence’

Thursday 21st January

It's Thursday!

Good morning everyone.

There is no live Teams meeting at 9.15 today but I will see your child for live RWI and Mrs Bailey will see them for her Teams meeting this afternoon at 12:45pm.

My good morning message can be found at the bottom of this page!

Today we are also going to be doing ...

Dough Disco

A song choice today from the 70's today. It's actually older than me (only just!)

Dancing Queen

I know that some children prefer or need to be instructed and there are some super dough disco songs on You Tube. Here's a few suggestions (I haven't watched them all though). Although I can recommend anything by 'Spread the Happiness TV.

Maths - 'Alive-in-5!' Week 3, lesson 4

Counting songs - up to 20 and down from 20

We will be revising these songs all week.

Count up to 20

Now try this one counting backwards instead...

Count down from 20

Continuing our lessons about capacity and measuring. If you want to do more around capacity I have created a new page for additional maths activities. The activities are for those children who want a little bit more because they weren't sure about something, they can be challenged a little more or because they just want to do more.

Lesson 4 - Measuring Capacity - How many fit inside?

Today you are going to be investigating how many items you can fit into a matchbox. If you do not have a matchbox you could use another small packet, container or box.

'Alive-in-5!' Week 3

Try the activity below after the lesson.

Mrs Rogers

Mrs Bailey

Please join me at the earlier time of 12:45pm on Teams. We will have another go at our penguin rhymes from last week and then I will show you what you are going to do for music this afternoon. I look forward to seeing you!

Music

You are going to have a go at composing your own rhythms today using the program, ‘2explore’.

Please click on the link below to access 2explore on Purple Mash:

2explore on Purple Mash

(I will show you how this program works during our Teams meeting.)

Task:

Can you make up your own rhythms using the different sounds?

Can you record your rhythm and play it back?

RE

Please click here to watch the video where I will introduce you to today’s RE – How is the world being spoiled?

Task:

Can you sort the pictures into two groups – ‘Good for the world’ and ‘Bad for the world’.

Talk to your grown up about what you think is going on in the picture.

Try and explain your choice to your grown up.

“I have put this there because…”

Challenge:

If God could see what was happening to the world, what do you think he would say?

Can you tell your grown up why the pictures in the ‘bad for the world’ group are harmful to our world?

Story

We have a new story – ‘The Emperor’s Egg’  by Martin Jenkins.

I hope you enjoy listening to the story.

The Emperor's Egg

What was your favourite part of the story?

Can you tell your grown up and give a reason why?

You will need to use the word, ‘because’.

Have a lovely afternoon! I will look forward to seeing your work on Seesaw.

See you tomorrow!
