Maths - 'Building 9 and 10' - Week 1

Today we exploring 9 and 10 again.

Please look at the picture in the files below from a book called 'Anno's Counting Book'. Today we are looking at 10. Again you will need to rotate the image.

Talk about what your child notices. Encourage them to subitise and talk about what they can see without counting if they can. e.g when talking about the children; "I can see 5 and a 5 which makes 10".

Building 9 and 10, week 1

After the lesson you are going to make your own dot pictures similar to those in the book 'Ten Black Dots'. (A PowerPoint of the book is below) You don't need to print the dots out you could make your own black dots or just draw them instead.

There are also some new activities on the additional maths activities page.

Additonal maths activities

See you later for a bedtime story,

Mrs Rogers

Mrs Bailey

Please join me for a live Teams meeting at 12:45pm. I look forward to seeing you.

Please bring one of your homemade instruments to the meeting if you can or, if you have your own musical instrument at home such as a drum or a shaker, then you could bring that instead.

Please don't worry if you don't have anything to bring - you can use your own instrument - your hands!

We are going to have a go at playing some sequences together and reading some simple music!

I look forward to seeing you 😊

Music

I will explain your task during our Teams meeting.

Last week, you used your own homemade instruments to play loud and quiet sounds, as well as different tempos.

This week, you are going to use your homemade musical instruments (or your own instrument or your hands!) to have another go at playing loud and quiet sounds but this time, you are going to be following some simple sequences which will tell you when to play your instrument loudly and when to play them quietly.

An acorn means that you have to play a quiet sound.

An oak tree means that you have to play a loud sound.

The sequences are available in the files section.

Task 1:

Have a go at playing the different sequences.

Task 2 (optional):

If you enjoyed the sequences activity, then you could have a go at making up your own sequences using the acorn and oak tree pictures.

I look forward to hearing your sequences 😊

RE

Click here for a video where I explain your RE task.

We have been thinking about how to look after the world.

This week, I want to know your ideas for how we can look after the world!

You could:

  1. Make a poster with pictures of ways we can look after the world

  1. Make a video where you explain how we can look after the world

  1. Make a model out of Lego or other building materials showing me ways that we can look after the world

  1. Using toys at home, show me how to look after the world. For example, your teddy might have dropped some rubbish and you can show teddy what they should have done with the rubbish

If you need any ideas. I have the pictures and an information PowerPoint in the files section to help you.

Also, the link to the song that you listened to is below:

Tee and Mo song

Please post your work onto Seesaw.

I can’t wait to see what you come up with 😊
