‘Nurturing Individual Excellence’

Thursday 25th June 2020

Let's hope this lovely weather continues for as long as it did before! It's been great speaking to everyone and finding out what you've been up to.  I'm glad everyone is safe and well and doing lots of super work.

Does anyone know what to do with mischievous chickens?

Maths

Mental Maths: Follow the link to a Topmarks percentage game - The legend of Dic and Dom.

https://www.topmarks.co.uk/Flash.aspx?a=activity15

This will help you to revise your knowledge of fractions and percentages.

LO: To describe volume in cube units

Follow the link to Oak Academy HERE. Scroll to Volume, lesson 4. Complete the online activities.  If you want extra activities to practise the skills taught, click on the attached file "Maths Activities" and choose from a one, two or three star task.  Make sure you check your answers.

English

A newspaper article quite often contains quotes from people taken by a reporter during an interview.  If this situation was real, and a young boy had really fallen off his family yacht, who do you think the reporter would want to interview?

Today, have a go at writing some of your own quotes, using  the prompt sheet (attached) to help. Think about who the quotes would be from and what would they say?

Art

Today, we are going to create a background for our artwork.  In your piece, I would like you to create a wave of any shape but in Hokusai's style, in front of a coloured sky.  The sky could be the colours we would see at a sunset or colours that you might see in the day time.  It's up to you.  If you are using paint, you need to create the sky first, using the blending technique.  If you're using crayon, you will need to draw the wave first. If you're using other media, think carefully about what would be easier to create first.

RSE

This year the theme for RSE Day is ‘Books I love about love’. Many of the ideas, in the list attached, support this theme.

RSE Day is a day to celebrate relationships and think about the role we all have in promoting positive relationships.

It is a day to celebrate excellent RSE, that promotes the wellbeing of, and safeguards, children and young people.  See the attached booklet for ideas about celebrating this important theme.
