LO: Multiply a 4 digit number by a 1 digit number using the short method

Yesterday, we started to multiply numbers using the short method of multiplication.  Today, we are going to use this same method to multiply a 4 digit number by a 1 digit number.  You can click on the links below which show you how to use the short method. After, choose from a *, ** or *** activity from the maths worksheets document. (Answers on the second page.) If you need to, you can download the multiplication square to help you with the questions.

Writing: Lune et L'Autre

Yesterday, you completed the planning sheet for a descriptive piece of writing based on the short animation - Lune et L'Autre.  Please watch again, using the link below.

https://www.literacyshed.com/lune-et-lautre.html

Task 1: Firstly, you are going to create a word bank for each of your paragraphs.  You may want to use a thesaurus and dictionary for this task.  See "Word bank - scene 1" as an example.  Think about how you could add adjectives to nouns and adverbs to verbs.

Task 2: Using your word bank, can you write a descriptive sentence for each scene.  For example: The icy wind whirled around the young girl's ears as she firmly tugged at the scratchy rope that held the wooden pail.

Guided Reading

Continue looking at the text and questions from yesterday – Alwin’s Sacrifice. Please post your answers onto Seesaw.

RE - Hinduism

LO – I can explain the Hindu cycle of birth, death and rebirth including karma and Moksha.

Task:

Watch the following video from Oak Academy:

***The parts relevant to your learning today start from about 2 minutes and 30 seconds into the video.***

Oak Academy - Hinduism

Hindu’s have a special way of looking at each stage in life. They call the cycle of life, ‘Samsara’ and it involves both Birth and Rebirth.

Create your own diagram to show the 'Samsara' and what Hindus believe in terms of Birth and Rebirth. Make sure you include:

*

  • Birth
  • Death
  • Rebirth

**

  • Birth
  • Death
  • Rebirth
  • Karma

***

  • Birth
  • Death
  • Rebirth
  • Karma
  • Moksha

It might be a cycle like the diagram in the video or you might choose to represent it in a different way, like a flow chart, for example.

If you need an idea of how to set out your work or more information, the video below should give you some inspiration and ideas:

History/Computing

Please join me for a short Teams meeting at 1:45pm where I will introduce you to your task for today.

Task:

Using the skills you learnt last week in Computing (quotation marks and the Boolean operator, AND), you are going to carry out your own research  and complete a fact file about one of the World War 2 leaders.

Please choose one of the following leaders to research:

  • Neville Chamberlain
  • Winston Churchill
  • Adolf Hitler
  • Benito Mussolini
  • Joseph Stalin
  • Hideki Tojo
  • Charles de Gaulle
  • Franklin D. Roosevelt

Think about the information you will need in your fact file to guide your research.

For example, you will need to research their date of birth so you could type in, "Neville Chamberlain AND date of birth".

There are some example fact files that children completed last year for you to look at to give you some ideas. You can use the templates provided, create your own on paper or use Microsoft Word or PowerPoint to present your information.

***The examples and the templates can be found at the bottom of the page.***

If we were in school, we would be presenting the information that we found to the rest of the class. Maybe you could present your fact file to somebody in your family?
