Online Learning - Year 4 - Week Commencing 11th January 2021

Maths (You can join the live lesson on Microsoft Teams)

Today, we are going to continue our learning on the grid method for multiplication. Have a think about how you have found the work so far and choose the star you feel suits you best. They all get a little bit harder each day! You can choose whether to use the grids I have put on the PowerPoint or whether to draw them yourself.

Please upload your work to Seesaw under “Maths task”.

English (You can join the live lesson on Microsoft Teams)

Today, we are going to start drafting our setting description. We are looking at paragraph three today (the colosseum). It is important that you spend time making this paragraph as good as it can possibly be by editing rather than rushing through.

  • When you are editing, have a look at the success criteria to see what I will be looking for when I am marking your work.
  • I have also included, at the bottom of the page, a PowerPoint that suggests the different ways we edit our work so make sure you use this to help you!
  • I don’t mind whether your paragraph is handwritten or typed up but, so that I can see where you have edited, please write/type in a different colour for any bits you change or add!
  • When you have finished, please complete the success criteria for your piece of writing. Give examples of any of the features you have included in your writing and then tick or cross to show whether you think you have been successful for each feature.

Please then upload your final paragraph and success criteria to “English Task” on Seesaw.

Science (Teams available if you are stuck or need help)

For this weeks science lesson we will be finishing looking at Food Chains.

First, watch this video from Oak Academy: CLICK HERE!

Don't complete the Oak Academy worksheet unless you want to!

You need to then work your way through the PowerPoint and then use the Animal Picture cards to create your own Food Chains.

I would like you to make the following:

  • Create a food chain that contains one carnivore and one herbivore.
  • Create a food chain with one producer, a primary consumer and a secondary consumer.
  • Create a food chain where the last consumer is an omnivore.
  • Create the longest food chain you can including a producer, detritivore and at least one consumer.
  • Create a food chain with 4 consumers.

Upload your work to Seesaw when you have finished!

This week we will be trying to explain what the 10 commandments may mean.

First watch this video from BBC Bitesize: CLICK HERE!

I have attached the PowerPoint for you to work through, then the worksheet to complete.

For example:

Commandment number 10 is 'Thou shall not covet anything that is thy neighbour's'

This means 'Don't be jealous of others'
