‘Nurturing Individual Excellence’

Tuesday 24th March

Tuesday

How was yesterday?

Did you do PE with Joe? We tried it in our house, my four year old managed most of it whilst my eleven year old managed it all. My twelve year old has two broken arms so he got to watch. I managed a bit too!

If you can watch the Read Write Inc phonics lessons that would be fantastic.

  • If you are in Mrs Rogers' Read Write Inc group watch the set 2 sounds and the set 3 sounds lessons.

  • Mrs Thompson's group watch the set 2 sounds and you could try the set 3 sounds.

  • Mrs Woodcock's group you need to watch the set 1 sounds and the set 2 sounds.

The Gingerbread Man

Re-read or watch the story again.

Today you could draw or make (using small world toys such Duplo/Lego/Playmobil/Megablocks) a story map.

You might have to improvise, so that if you don't have a cow, the Gingerbread Man could meet a sheep. You could draw a small Gingerbread man on paper and after cutting him out stick him onto some Duplo or Lego bricks so you can move him round the story map you have made. Here's one my 4 year old made today for me.

After you have drawn or made your map retell the story to someone.

Can you remember to include the repeated phrases from the story? e.g. "run, run as fast as you can, you can't catch me I'm the Gingerbread Man."

We will use the story again tomorrow.

Maths

Today we are thinking about what happens when a number sequence is muddled or a number is missing.

Watch the Numberblocks episode on the link below:

https://www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/episode/b08cr0y7/numberblocks-series-1-off-we-go

Develop the vocabulary of before and after:

One comes before two

Four comes after three

etc.

When your child is confident to 5, and some will be already extend it with numbers to 10, then 20 and beyond if your child is ready.

You could play the game below, which is PC and tablet friendly, it will help your child to sequence numbers from 1-10 and 10-1. The ordering number game allows your child to drag numbers in order onto the dragon's body however they are not necessarily a sequence  e.g it might be 3, 7, 8, 9, 11.

RE

We have been talking about the Easter story and exploring the idea of new life e.g. signs of spring, lambs, bulbs growing etc.

Remember you have your keyring words and speed sounds. Share stories and make sure you spend time playing too!
