‘Nurturing Individual Excellence’

Tuesday 31st March

Welcome Year 4!

Are you still doing 'PE with Joe' in the mornings? If you would like to join in, ask if you can follow along at 9am this morning.         https://www.youtube.com/user/thebodycoach1

Harold is still updating his diary each day too!

Also, don't forget our blog. You can find it at the very top of the school website. Click on Year 4. I'd love to hear about all the things you have been up to over the last week.

I am enjoying looking to see who is using Prodigy and how many questions each person is getting right. Who was top of the Prodigy Year 4 leader board for last week March 23 - 29?

Gold = Isaac,     Silver = Keeley,      Bronze = Sammy

Well done to these three children. Keep it up! I wonder who will be on the leader board for this week??

Keep in touch and stay safe.

Maths

Spend some time this morning to practise your times tables (no longer than 30 minutes). You could go onto Times Tables Rockstars, Hit the Button or just practise them in your book. Think about which tables you're not as confident with and spend a little more time practising those.

See the attached files for dividing 1-digit by 10. We know where the tenths column is in the place value grid so you might be able to change the fraction to the decimal without a problem.

If you are finding it a bit tricky, you may want to use this online place value grid to help.

https://mathsbot.com/tools/placeValue

It is really handy to move the digits one place to the right. The big arrows on each side move each digit for you. If you prefer, you may want to draw your own grid and move each digit yourself. Remember, when we divide by 10 we move the digits one place to the right.

English

Please begin drafting your narrative for 'Flood'. A narrative is just another word for a story! Click on the picture of the book for the online preview of 'Flood'

You should aim to complete the first paragraph today including the following events:

  • Family life in the house - watching tv, playing with toys, spending time outside.
  • The TV shows a weather report telling the family a flood is coming.

Think ahead about how your version of 'Flood' is going to end.

Have a look at the attached document to check you have included the features.

Don't forget to use some of the sentences you have written last week too!

Music

Mrs Griffin has suggested to try this song. There will be a new song on Friday which you may want to have a go at too.

Don't forget to have a 'mindful moment' today. You might want to choose some quiet reading, mindful colouring or to make a rainbow to put in your window. There are lots of people all over the country who are putting a picture of a rainbow in their window. The rainbows are to show a message of hope and to make people smile when they see them.
