VE Day Activity: Various

Note: I have selected the tasks below to link in with VE Day. They do not have to be completed but you may find them a useful way of exploring this important day of remembrance.

VE Day 75 Website: Follow the link here to access the official VE Day 75th Anniversary website. Of particular note are the following:

  • 11:00am today - Moment of reflection and remembrance (2 minutes silence)
  • 3:00pm today - 'Nation's Toast to the Heroes of WW2' (raise your glass of chosen refreshment "To those who gave so much, we thank you".

Churchill Speech Task:

  • Read the document below (Churchill's VE Day Speech)
  • Select three phrases or sentences which you find most inspiring and explain why.

VE Day Facts Task:

  • Read the facts found on the VE Day Display Fact Cards.
  • In your red home learning book, or on the computer using Word, PPT or similar, separate the facts by the country in which they take place.

Bletchley Park VE Day Activities:

  • Bletchley Park, the home of the top-secret WW2 codebreakers, was one of the first organisations to hear of Germany's official surrender.
  • In celebration of the 75th Anniversary of VE Day, they have released two activity rescources below (VE Day Activities and VE Day Celebration Pack). Many of the activities can be used without a printout but I will also include both of these documents in the next learning pack.

I do hope, despite the cancellations of large events, you can still get involved with celebrating VE Day.

Thanks

Mr. Hancock
