‘Nurturing Individual Excellence’

Wednesday 1st April

It's Wednesday! smiley

Today was going to be our special 'Once Upon a Time' Ball.

Perhaps you could still dress as a prince, princess, king, queen or knight for the day?

Read or listen to the story of Cinderella if you can. (You could even watch the film if you have it.)

In the story Cinderella goes to a royal ball. Below is a clip of her dancing with the Prince.

She is dancing a special dance called a waltz.

Listen and watch the music below and see if you can dance to it too!

Which instruments can you see being played?

Can you see the people dancing?

This is a very famous piece of waltz music called 'The Blue Danube'.

Here are some other activities you could do today...

Make a cardboard crown

Could you make a crown to wear for the day using things you can find at home? You could use card from a cereal box.

Make a throne

If you are allowed you could use a chair and cover it with some material like a sheet or blanket and make it your royal throne.

What will you do while you are sitting on your throne? Could you make a throne for one of your toys from things you have around your home or from Lego/Duplo/Megablocks?

Royal Banquet

Invite your toys to have a special royal banquet with you. You could put a sheet/blanket/tablecloth on a table or on the floor (picnic style) and eat your lunch with your royal guests.

Make a castle

Use construction toys to build a castle or make one (if you are allowed) from items around your home like sofa cushions! Make sure you tidy away anythng you use. How will you protect your castle?

You could draw a picture of a castle. Can you find out what these parts of a castle are?

Moat

Portcullis

Tower

There is a powerpoint below to look at about castles.
