Prodigy Leader Board

Gold - Harry    Silver -  Lauren   Bronze -  Zac B

Very well done to these three children.

I would also like to say well done to Joseph, Cooper and Evie who may not be on the Leader Board but answered all their questions correctly.

Things to do

The Duchess of Cambridge is leading a live assembly on Thursday at 11.00 am. Here is the link https://classroom.thenational.academy/assemblies/

Download the power points below to find out more details for English and maths.

English – We are going to read another seaside story 'The Lighthouse Keepers Lunch'. We will use the story to inspire a playscript. We have not written a playscript before so this should be exciting!

Reading – I love 'The Lighthouse Keepers Lunch' those seagulls are so mischievous. What do you know about lighthouses? There are 2 comprehensions for you: 'Tricky lighthouse comprehension' and 'Medium lighthouse comprehension' Print out or answer in your book.

I have sent you two books about lighthouses, an easier one and a trickier one. They tell you about how lighthouses are built and what they do. Challenge yourself to read both?

Spelling - every day. We are adding more suffixes this week 'ly' and less. Remember last week when 'full' changed to 'ful' with one 'l'? Which one looks right?

joy + full + ly = joyfullly    or     joy + ful + ly = joyfully.  Yes, the second one is correct. The first one looks very strange.

Complete the spelling practice page in Excalibur cursive please.

It should look like this.

adding suffixes ly and less

badly lovely quickly slowly

happily hopeless joyless

careless fearless penniless

Handwriting

Look at our Year 2 class page. There are handwriting videos to watch. They should remind you of our handwriting in class. Print out the paper to practise any joins you are not sure about.

Spellings should now be in Excalibur cursive handwriting please.

Maths - This week we are reading scales, easy scales that count in ones and more tricky scales that count in twos or fives or even tens. You will need to look carefully.

PE with Joe Wicks on youtube live 9.00 - 9.30 Ask first. Practise sprinting in your garden. Can you skip? And run at the same time?

History - You have already looked at holidays in the past. They were rather different weren't they! Everyone looked very smart but, I think they would be hot in all those clothes. Print out the 'Past and Present holidays'. Use the Venn diagram to show your learning.

My favourite!

Science – We haven't looked at our sunflowers for a while. How are they doing? How tall are they? How many leaves do the plants have? How are you looking after them? Are you doing anything special to help them grow? What advice have you been given by parents or friends or grandparents? Observe your sunflowers and record what you see in your 'Sunflower Diary'.

Art/DT – It is Father's Day on Sunday 21 June. In the latest Home Learning pack there are two pieces of card for you to make a card. Keep it safe until Sunday.

IT - Look at the file 'Dangers at the Seaside'. Use your IT skills to insert text boxes highlighting the dangers. In school we learned how to use 'shift' to make a capital letter not 'caps lock' because it is more efficient. Please check your spelling and ensure your sentences make sense.

Music - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=C62hpA4zczY       Fun with rhyming creatures 'Down by the Bay'

Take care everyone
