‘Nurturing Individual Excellence’

Week Beginning 01 June 2020

Hi everybody! Welcome back after the May half term. I hope you all had a lovely week. I spent some time outside in the garden. Have you been gardening outside too? Have you been for a walk? You can let me know in our blog HERE

You have all been working so hard with our online learning, keep it up! There are lots of activities to do on this page so you can choose which ones you would like to complete.

Please ask before clicking on any links!

Keep safe Year 4 and keep going!

Well done to everybody who has been logging on to Prodigy. The Prodigy leader board for last week May 25 - May 29 is:

Well done to our leaderboard winners this week!

Remember to continue using Prodigy or Times Table Rockstars. These are really good ways to keep practising your maths. Click on the Prodigy Logo to take you to the website.

Spellings

The spelling sheets for this week hs been uploaded at the bottom of the page. Please remember to keep practising your spellings each week. You can use the Year 3/4 spelling lists in your pack too.

DT

Did you see the SpaceX launch on Saturday? If you didn't, you can watch a recap of the launch on YouTube HERE. Please ask an adult first before clicking on any links.

I tried to look in the sky on Saturday evening and I think I saw the spacecraft but it may have been the International Space Station instead.

To link with this momentous occasion, you can have a go at designing your own space buggy that can operate on Mars. In the document, there are three challenges (*, ** and ***). Please choose the sheet you would like to complete.

EXTRA CHALLENGE: Using any material you wish, can you build your buggy?

If you have any spare cardboard boxes, paper, tubes or other objects around the house, you can use them to build your Mars buggy.

You can email me a photo of your design/buggy - I would love to see your creations!

Please ask an adult first.

Computing

There is an e-safety activity attached. Please have a go at this. By clicking on the pictures below, it will take you to the website where you can play 'Band Runner' or have a go at some of the coding games.

Music

Did you try Mrs Griffin's song last week? If not, you can find it by clicking HERE. It's Mr Blue Sky and you can even learn Makaton too!

Do you enjoy singing? You can have a go at Oak National Academy's lesson and learn to sing a major scale. Click HERE to take you there.

Science

We have been using the online simulator for our circuits in the last few lessons. You can click on the picture below to take you to the website. This week, I would like you to try and investigate conductors and insulators. You may be wondering what a conductor or an insulator is. If you are, THIS BBC BITESIZE website will help you to find out.

First, see if you can complete these sentences.

If the electricity flows through the object, it is a ______ (conductor/insulator).

If the electricity does not flow through the object, it is a _____(conductor/insulator).

On the circuits website, I would like you to place the objects in your circuit to investigate which objects are conductors and which are insulators. I have uploaded a table for you to record your results too. Don't worry about completing the whole sheet as some of the objects are not on the circuits website. Do as much as you can. Have fun!

History / Geography

Please continue with your Victorian fact files. All the information you need is on THIS ONLINE LEARNING PAGE under the history/geography heading. There are also lots of resources attached at the bottom of that page too!

If you would like to try something else, courtesy of Englesea Brook, I have uploaded some activities. They can be found at the bottom of this page.

Fancy having a sports day at home? I have uploaded some resources for you to try this at home or in your garden. There are certificates and a leader board, but I think the PE task cards are really fun! Can you complete them all?

PSHE

Have you done something positive recently? Have you, or someone else, done something kind? You can tell me all about it on our blog HERE. When we do something kind for somebody else, it makes us feel much better. I really enjoy reading your acts of kindness. Thank you to everybody who has already commented.

Click on Harold to keep up to date with his diary. There are also some activities which you might like to complete too.
