I hope you have all had a lovely weekend.  It's been a bit rainy but I've enjoyed spending some time with our chickens and getting them settled into their new home.  They are getting really big now! (And one is possibly a cockerel. Any experts out there?) Here they are...

Maths

Mental maths: Follow the link to Hit the Button.  Click on square numbers to revise square numbers up to 100.  If you think you know them all already, choose a different game.

LO: To calculate angles between intersecting lines, in triangles and quadrilaterals.

Read through the PowerPoint which will go over how to calculate missing angles on a straight line and around a point then move on to how to find missing angles when two lines cross each other, in a triangle and in a quadrilateral.  Try activity 1 first.  You can choose from the one, two or three star activities.  If you feel confident, have a go at activity 2.

English

Spellings: This week's spelling activities focus upon the Year 5/6 words to learn.  Look through the PowerPoint and choose a different activity each day to help you to learn the words in the list.

Comprehension: This week's comprehension is based on Chapter 4 - Gibbons and Ghosts - of Kensuke's Kingdom.  Please read the chapter before answering the questions.   You can choose from the one or two star questions.  Please check your answers.

Something extra! I know Year 5 are super readers and true book worms so you may want to have a look at the Summer Reading Challenge. Usually, you can sign up for this at the library.  If I remember correctly, last year's theme was Space? The theme this year is Silly Squad and it’s all about funny books, happiness and having a laugh! Click HERE to take you to the website where you can sign up for this year.  An adult will need to verify your account so make sure you tell a grown-up first.

Humanities (Mrs Harris)

Hello everyone. This week, we're looking at volcanoes! Today we're going to discover what a volcano is and how they are formed. There's also instructions for making your own erupting volcano! Have fun!
