‘Nurturing Individual Excellence’

New Starters 2024

April 2024

Welcome to Excalibur Primary School. We are delighted that you have chosen our school and we look forward to meeting you soon.

What's going to happen next?

Once the deadline for accepting reception school places has passed, we will find out who will be coming to our school in September. Once we have that information, we will write to you and your child, inviting you to our parent and carer information evening. We normally send invitation letters out at the beginning of May so don't worry if you don't hear anything for a few weeks. The information meeting will take place on Thursday 13th June at 6pm. The letter will also notify you of the transition arrangements for your child.

Below you will find some information about starting at our school. This information was provided for our new starters in 2023. In the coming weeks it will be updated for our 2024 intake.

Please take time to look through everything as there is a lot of useful information about our school and the routines of the school day. There are two handbooks; one for you and one for your child. (You will get a paper copy of the child's handbook in a welcome pack that you will be given during the parent/carer information evening in June.) It may be useful to share it with them a few times between now and when they start school. There are also some information leaflets and activities that you can do to help your child get ready for school.

We have a really wonderful Early Years environment here at Excalibur and we can't wait for you to see it.

Starting school can be a daunting process, there is a wealth of information and resources that can help.

'Let's Get Ready For School'

Cheshire East Libraries have launched 'Let's Get Ready for School' an exciting initiative for families whose children will be starting primary school. They have created 10 different book bags each containing four picture books. The books have been specially selected to share with younger children, to help them cope with change and prepare them for school.

The bag also contains useful leaflets outlining some practical ideas for supporting children's communication at this important stage. The book nags are free to loan and available at your local library. They can also be reserved online at  https://cheslive.koha-ptfs.co.uk/cgi-bin/koha/opac-main.pl.
