Monday 8th June
It's Monday!
We hope you had a lovely weekend. Your rain dances must have been amazing as it has rained nearly all weekend!
This week our learning has a pirate theme. There are lots of lovely pirate activities in the next home learning pack that you can collect from school from today.
Let's get in the mood with a pirate song - Portside Pirates
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_qAngsMJD3I
- Can you think of some actions to go with the song?
What is a Pirate?
- Look at the PowerPoint below to find out.
- Use the PowerPoint to find your pirate name?
- Draw a picture of you as a pirate.
- Write a sentence to go with your picture and include your new pirate name.
Phonics and reading
- Play Poop Deck Pirates
- Read the words on the gold coins to decide if they are real or not.
- We haven't done all the sounds yet so look for CVC words and set 2 sounds that your child is familiar with. They are:
ay/ee/igh/ow/oo/ar/or/ir/air/ou/oy
- Some children will be able to do the CVCC, CCVC and CCCVC words too.

Pirate map paper
Tomorrow we are going to make pirate treasure maps. You could make some special paper ready for tomorrow. To make your paper look old ask your grown up to help you stain the paper with some strong black coffee or tea.
It might be a good idea to make a couple of sheets. Leave it to dry ready for tomorrow. Watch the video below for help but it's easy enough to do.
