‘Nurturing Individual Excellence’

Tuesday 5th May

It's Tuesday everyone!

We hope you had fun doing the Star Wars themed activities yesterday or anything else you tried instead.

Mrs Thompson has a special message for you today. Click below to watch it.

The Great Pet Sale - Mick Inkpen

  • Some of the suggested activities for the next two days are based around this book. Click on the link to listen to the story.

Talking about the story

  • Which pets would you buy and which wouldn't you buy?

  • Try and use the word 'because' to explain your reasons.

Best pet drawing and writing

  • Draw a picture of one pet that you would buy.

  • Write a sentence about your pet. Try and write as much as you can by yourself.

  • Don't forget fingerspaces and a full stop to finish your sentence. Some of you can write more than one sentence.

Making a shop

  • Make your own shop, it could be a pet shop (with toy animals), a dinosaur shop, a car shop or a toy shop.

  • Use paper or card to make some price labels for the items in the shop. Keep everything below 10p. 'P' means pence. It tells us how much something costs.

  • Using 1 pence pieces, take turns to sell and buy things in your shop.

  • You will need to make sure you have enough to buy the item you want. What happens if you buy 2 or 3 things can you add them up to find the total?

  • You can extend this by only having a certain amount to spend and finding things that add up to that amount. e.g. if you have 9p to spend you could choose items that cost 3p and 6p or 5p and 4p.

  • Put the labels somewhere safe as you can use them again tomorrow.
