‘Nurturing Individual Excellence’

Wednesday 25th March

Wednesday smiley

Good morning, how was yesterday?

It's day three of our home schooling and the sun is still shining!

If you are allowed, go out into the garden today, the fresh air will make you feel better and you can burn off some energy! Today we are planning to make an obstacle course in our garden.

  • If you have some paintbrushes you could 'paint' the wall, fence etc outiside with water in a small bucket.

  • Squirting water from a spray bottle is good fun too and will help those finger muscles!

  • If you have some chalks you could draw pictures on the ground or maybe a racetrack for your cars?

PE

Did you join in with nearly one million people from around the world and take part in Joe's PE lesson yesterday? That's amazing!

If you want something a bit more chilled we tried the Cosmic Kids Bear Hunt Yoga story yesterday. Click on the link below to try it too.

The Gingerbread Man

Start be re-telling or reading the story again. Today you could make up your own version of the story using different characters e.g the Gingerbread Man could meet Batman, Cinderella, Sky and Lightening Mcqueen. Use your favourite characters that you have at home. You could draw a new story map or make one from items around the home. (Don't forget to tidy them away afterwards!)

Will the Gingerbread Man still meet a fox or will it be a different character? Will the character trick him or help him? It's up to you as it's your story! Try and include the repeated language, "run, run as fast as you can, you can't catch me I'm the Gingerbread Man" as you tell your story.

Phonics and Reading

Practise your speed sounds and key ring words if you can. Don't forget to watch the Speed Sounds Lessons too.

Share a story and talk about it togther.

Maths

Keep counting! Today write the numbers 1-10 on pieces of paper and lay them on a table in order from 1 to 10. Close your eyes and ask your grown-up to take one away, now open your eyes. What's missing? Play this a few times.

If you are feeling very confident your grown-up could take two numbers away at a time.

Some children will be very confident with 1-10 so use numbers 11-20, then extend with 20-30 if your child is ready.

The game below is one we play at school on the board. Instead of removing numbers you can move them round the page. We usually switch two numbers around when the children have closed their eyes, once opened, they tell us which two have switched places.

Play/creative

Spend time being creative, maybe you will draw rainbows like Lissie (see News from Home section) or building Lego like Charlie? You learn best through play so make sure you are doing that too! If you can send an email to school to let them know what you have been doing.

Good luck and enjoy your day,

We miss you!
