‘Nurturing Individual Excellence’

Week beginning Monday 18 May

www.GlitterTextOnline.com

Brrr! It was not as warm last week. I went for a long walk up a hill. I think I could see Alsager. On Friday, while I was in school, I was visited by a pink princess who had come to pick up her home learning pack. Princess Emily had made me a beautiful lighthouse, thank you.

Are you still being kind? What does that mean? Helping someone in your family, trying to do some things by yourself and keeping your toys tidy are all ways to be kindsmiley

Guess what? Super star Year 2 readers!

Congratulations, you earned the 500 badge. I am so impressed.

Prodigy Leader Board

Very well done to these three children, fabulous effort.

Keep going everyone.

When did you last log in? How fast are you?                                  Or choose your own tables. Find 'Hit the Button' on our class page.

Things To Do

Download the power points below to find out more details for English and maths.

English - Lets practise our sentence writing and make sure our punctuation is sharp!

Reading - Read every day. I have sent you two shark books on 'Epic'. Choose one (or both) to read and then complete the quiz at the end of the book.

Spelling - Practise every day. Recap the 40 common exception words (CEW) for Year 2. Then learn the 10 new ones. They are in your home learning pack and in the files below.

Maths - We are revising some addition and subtraction this week. Use the shark fin method for addition and the chips and peas method for subtraction. Column addition and subtraction are taught in Year 3. On Prodigy, I have set the questions to addition and subtraction. When you have completed them, the questions will revert back to mixed quesitons.

PE - This week should have been Sports Week. You could try racing against your own family. In school we would be practising: beanbag and bucket, egg and spoon, sack, skipping, sprint, relay and obstacle. Which one is most fun? Which ones could you try in your garden? I would love to see your photographs. Send them to Mrs Hilditch for the 'News from Home' zone on our web site.

History - Over the next few weeks we are going to look at holidays and how they have changed in the last 100 years or more. In this time, holidays have kept changing. Where we go, how we travel, our accommodation and how long we go for, have all changed. But, some things have stayed the same. This year, because of Covid19, we may not go on holiday. But we can remember our holidays from the past and look forward to the future.

If you are missing the beach take a look at Wednesday's page, there is a desert island with warm shallow water to paddle in. smiley

Art/DT - In the UK, at the seaside there is often a lighthouse. Read 'The Lighthouse Keepers Lunch' or watch it on YouTube - ask first please.

Then Look at Shoo Rayner on YouTube and see if you can draw a lighthouse. Remember you can always pause it to give you more time.

Science - Can you remember MRS GREN? What do all the letters stand for? I have taken two photographs in my garden to see if you can explain what is happening. Look at the Daisies file.

IT - Why not use the j2e link on our class page and make your own branching database. Choose sea creatures and then think of questions to sort them. Ask a grown up to 'play' your data base. I think they will be impressed!

Last week I made a wordart using all of your names. Lauren made a heart which was full of the things she has been doing at home.

Have you made one? Email it to Mrs Hilditch and she will put it on the school website.

Which shape will you choose?

Take care everybody. Enjoy your Whit half term break.
