‘Nurturing Individual Excellence’

Week beginning Monday 8 June

Welcome to the week

What a lot of rain! Did anyone get wet? What have you been doing outdoors? I have bought a wild life camera because my garden is visited by a hedgehog. It is great fun in the morning, connecting it to the laptop to see if he has visited. He is very noisy! Have you seen anything unusual in your garden or through your window?

Things to do

Download the power points below to find out more details for English and maths.

English – We are going to practise complex sentences and

then try something a little more creative. I will be asking

you to think of lots of words to describe ammonites:

shape, colour, texture, similes etc. We are also going to make

and play a game called 'Escape from the Ammonite'. Have fun!

Reading – every day please. Use Epic and your own books. There are some great books about lighthouses, sharks, jellyfish, starfish on Epic. Read about Mary Anning in the 'Stones and Bones' booklet from last week. This week answer the comprehension questions about Mary Anning. There are 2 sets of questions 'Tricky comprehension questions' and 'Medium comprehension quesitons2'. Go on, challenge yourself to try some tricky questions.

It should look like this.

Use the Spelling Practice Page and remember Excalibur cursive handwriting please. Use the lines to help you, just like in school.

adding ment ness and ful

enjoyment argument merriment

sadness happiness darkness kindness

careful playful plentiful

Notice what happens to 'ful' only one 'l'

Handwriting

Look at our Year 2 class page. There are handwriting videos to watch. They should remind you of our handwriting in class. Print out the paper to practise any joins you are not sure about.

Spellings should now be in Excalibur cursive handwriting please.

Maths - Learn to tell half past times. From Monday 22 June, we will be learning to tell the time to the nearest 5 mins and solving time problems. Keep practsing. This week, we will be consolidating our arithmetic. There will be 20 questions every day.

PE with Joe Wicks on youtube live 9.00 - 9.30 Ask first. Practise sprinting in your garden. Can you skip? And run at the same time?

Geography - Seasons. You can all describe the weather that you would expect in the four seasons in the UK. Look at the file Seasons. Enjoy cutting out the pictures and sticking them onto the ocrrect season.

Science - How many baby animal names do you know? Look in the file 'Baby animal names'. It's not as easy as just baby names. Do you know the correct word for the male, female, baby and group of these animals. Nothing to write and if you are struggling 'move' the blue box to reveal the answers!

Art/DT - Choose something creative from 'World Ocean Day'. Take a photo and send it school. I would love to see your creations.

IT - Create an animal using Publisher or a different progream. Can you remember how to copy and paste a shpae to save time? Use shapes, colour, textures. What could you use on Purple mash to help you?

Music - Lets learn another song. It's about all the colours in a rainbow.
