Today in English we are going to be recording your News Reports!

You need to use your script from yesterday and decide if youre going to sit infront of a desk? Whether you are going to get dressed as a news presenter?

Are you going to go outside to film the part when you're on location? When you're talking about your earthquake.

Please upload your News Report to Seesaw under “English task”.

Make sure you have completed your spelling activities for the week!

 

Guided Reading (Ratburger)

Please re-read chapter 19 and 20 and answer the following questions.

  1. What did Zoe use to hollow out the wall in her room for her great escape?
  2. Use a dictionary or Google to find out the meaning of the word ‘suspiciously’ and write the meaning.
  3. When Zoe finally broke through her bedroom wall into the next door flat whose face did she see?
  4. What are some of the adjectives (describing words) that the author uses to describe Tina Trotts on page 196?
  5. Describe the effect the image on pages 208 & 209 has on you. (How does it make you feel?)

Please read chapter Chapter 21, 22 and 23 for homework!

World Book Day 2021

The theme of World Book Day this year is 'Inspirational People'. Each class will be looking at a different inspirational person. 

 

I have chosen Sir Captain Tom Moore for us to look at!

I have recorded myself reading two books about Sir Captain Tom Moore! 

 

Book 1 - Little People, Big Dreams Captain Tom Moore

Book 2 - Sir Captain Tom Moore One Hundred Steps

 

I have given you two activities that you will need to complete and then a few other activities that you can choose to complete if you wish!

 

You do not need to complete all of the optional activities!

 

Activity One

For activity one, I would like you to write a letter of thanks to Sir Captain Tom Moore! You will write the letter from you, thanking him for what he has done for society!

Think of all the achivements Sir Captain Tom Moore has acomplished!

  • Walking Laps of his garden to raise money for the NHS, his goal of reaching £1000 before his 100th Birthday.
  • By the end of Sir Captain Tom's Birthday on the 30th of April, he had raised £32.79 Million.
  • In May ITV created a doccumentary all about Sir Captain Tom's life in World War Two.
  • On May 7th Sir Captain Tom received a gold blue peter badge!

These are only some of the achievements that Sir Captain Tom acomplished last year! You can research about Sir Captain Tom to find out more about his other big acheivements in life!

Activity Two

Imagine you are one of the two children here in this photo!

Can you write a descriptive paragraph about what you can see! Think about how you would feel to be seeing Sir Captain Tom doing his laps of his garden!

 

Once you have finished activity one and two, please upload them to Seesaw!

For activity three I would like you to create an inspirational poster featuring Sir Captain Tom Moore! 

This may be in the style of the World War Two propaganda posters! You may also want to put an inspirational quote from Sir Captain Tom Moore on your poster! I have put some examples below!

           

 

Activity Four (Optional)

For activity four, I have created a World Book Day quiz! The whole family can join in! 

I can't wait to see how you've done!

 

Activity Five (Optional)

For activity five, I would like you to recreate a scene from your favourite book. You can do this through:

  • In a shoebox?
  • Decorate it on a cake?
  • Create a collage?
  • Make it out of lego?
  • Act the scene out?
  • Draw the scene?

 

Activity Six (Optional)

For activity six, I thought it might be a nice idea to find and write some inspirational quotes.

These may have reference to reading or not!

You can choose to use quotes from our focus inspirational person Sir Captain Tom Moore or someone else!

I have attached some speech bubbles at the bottom of the page for you to write in! Choose a colour bubble and get started!
