‘Nurturing Individual Excellence’

Week Beginning 20 April 2020

Welcome Year 4!

Welcome back to a new term! I hope you all had a lovely Easter. It's going to be a little different this term but we are still going to continue our learning with the same determination and enthusiam that we always do! You all did such brilliant work last term, let's continue all your hard work!

Well done to everybody who has been logging on to Prodigy. The Prodigy leader board for last week April 13 - April 19 is:

Gold: Jessica A               Silver: Maisie-Lou               Bronze: William

Well done!

You will be sent a class code via parent mail for a new website called Epic Reading. This will give you access to thousands of eBooks, quizzes and videos. I will also get to see which books you are reading. If you click on the Epic! logo above it will take you to the website. If you haven't already, have a go and see what you think!

This term we will be looking at the Victorians and we will find out lots more about what school and work was like and who were the important people during that era.

As you have been completing your online learning work for a few weeks now, you may have made your own learning timetable. Therefore, I will be putting up daily maths and English activities but I will be putting all our other learning under a separate page, like this one, so you can follow your own timetable and work through it as and when you can. Please let me know if you have any problems accessing the work set online.

Take care, look after yourselves and keep safe.

Miss Bass

This Wednesday (22nd April) is Earth Day. The theme is climate action. This year also marks 50 years of Earth Day!!

Think about how we can help to look after the planet. Do you recycle? Have you reused any boxes or packaging to create something inventive?

Click on the picture of Earth to watch a BBC Blue Planet Live Lesson.

Make sure to ask an adult before you click on links online.

This Thursday (23rd April) is St. George's Day. Click on the picture to read the story of St George. There are also lots of other activities on the link too. You could have a go at some of them or you could try drawing a dragon.

Computing

We have used Scratch in school to create different projects. You can use a version of Scratch online by clicking HERE. Have a go at tinkering with the program. If you are finding it tricky, there are some really good tutorial videos to help you.

Music

Look out for an email from Mrs Jones all about some musical activities you can try out.

Science

To start our new science topic on electricity, we will identify common appliances that run on electricity.

* Can you identify things in your house that run on electricity? You could start to make a list in your book.

* Watch THIS video to find out more about electricity.

* We need to know the dangers of electricity and how we can work safely with electricity too. Try and see if you can spot all the electrical dangers HERE

History

Using the document at the bottom of the page, try and put the events into chronological order. Remember, chronological order means to putting the events in the order in which they happened.

You may want to write each event (in the right order) in your book as a timeline. You could choose to draw a litle picture for each one too!

PE

You can do PE with Joe Wicks every morning at 9am. Remember to ask first!
