‘Nurturing Individual Excellence’

New Starters 2025

April 2025

Welcome to Excalibur Primary School. We are delighted that you have chosen our school and we look forward to meeting you soon.

What's going to happen next?

After the deadline has passed for accepting your child's reception place, we will find out who is coming to us in September.  We will then be able to contact you, inviting you to parents and carers meeting.

Our information meeting for parents and carers has been provsionally planned for Thursday 19th June at 6.15 pm (tbc). You will receive an email from us, inviting you to this meeting and notifing you of the transition arrangements for your child.

At the meeting you will be given an induction pack for you and your child. There are some things to look at with your child, some information for you and there are some forms which need completing and returning to school.

Below you will find a copy of our parents handbook. Please take time to look through everything as there is a lot of useful information about our school and the routines of the school day.  Your child will receive their own guide in the welcome pack that you will be given during the parent/carer information evening in June. It may be useful to share it with them a few times between now and when they start school. There are also some information leaflets and activities that you can do to help your child get ready for school.

Starting School - supporting resources

We know that starting school can be a daunting process, there is a wealth of information and resources that can help. The media has been awash with what 'school readiness' is and what children should be able to do by the time they start.

Below are some resources that you might find useful.

'Starting Reception'

This website has been set up to support parents and carers as they child gets ready to start school.

'Let's Get Ready For School'

Cheshire East Libraries have launched 'Let's Get Ready for School' an exciting initiative for families whose children will be starting primary school. They have created 10 different book bags each containing four picture books. The books have been specially selected to share with younger children, to help them cope with change and prepare them for school.

The bag also contains useful leaflets outlining some practical ideas for supporting children's communication at this important stage. The book bags are free to loan and available at your local library.

They can also be reserved online at  https://cheslive.koha-ptfs.co.uk/cgi-bin/koha/opac-main.pl.
