Autumn 2020
Overboard - November 2020
For our second piece of descriptive writing, Year 5 were tasked with completing a first person recount of a character, from our class novel - Kensuke's Kingdom, who fell overboard from his family's yacht. To succeed, the children used skills taught to enhance description and add detail.

Tuesday - September 2020
At the start of the year, Year 5 were tasked with writing a descriptive piece after watching a short animation, based on the book Tuesday, by David Wiesner. Our focus was to enhance description using adverbs, adjectives and varying sentence openers.

Spring 1 - 2020
The Snowman
During the last week of the autumn term, Year 5 wrote a story based on the Snowman, writing in first person and from the perspective of the child.
A Technical Report
As part of their reading of the Abominables by Eva Ibbotson, Year 5 wrote a technical report about the mountainous area known as Nanvi Dar.
